"In the past, the Lemercier distillery was one of the most important producers of absinthe in France. It is located in Fougerolles. Abisinthe 45% is the winner of the silver spoon at the Absinthiades 2003. A typical French Absinthe."

"The Lemercier Abisinthe 72 is acutally very nice. It is almost totally clear with just the slightest tinge of yellow. It smells very smooth, although it’s at such high alcohol level.
Tasted neat, sure burns and it’s got a good bit of heat, but that mellows out into a nice herbal mixture.
With water and sugar added, it produces a nice white louche, and the taste smoothens even more. Despite its high alcohol level one could use less water than for many other absinthes, since too much water flattens the taste way to much. I think this is a very good absinthe, and it’s one of the kinds that I would definitely treat any "beginner" that has never tasted absinthe.
So. It’s very appealing and I sincerely recommend it as it’s way ahead of any oil mix available."

"The Lemercier Frères distillery is a traditional distillery located in the important “Absinthe city” : Fougerolles.

During summer 2002, they restarted marketing absinth almost 100 years after its prohibition. As we expected it from the producer, absinthe is distilled in a natural way. The natural colour coms from a plants maceration.

The Lemercier bottle brings a new shape on the absinthe market, it widens from the low part to the top and narrows at the neck. The label has a rather noble style and reflects professionalism. This absinthe gives us a positive visual impression. This absinthe is obtained by a distillation of anise.

The colour of this absinthe is a very luminous yellowish green. The odour of the alcohol is clearly brought forth in the glass. Diluted with cool water and a sugar, its light greenish white louche is stronglier brought forth. The strong taste of alcohol immediatly dominate, and then vanish to let the plants flavour appear. The taste of Abisinthe 72 is complex, and more than the odour would have let us think (Lemercier produces without additives). It has a fruity taste, but it also offers a bitter touch.

Anise is also very discreet and harmonize with the rest instead of dominating the entirety. It seems that we distinguish a little taste of star anise (badian). As far as the strong louche is concerned, I think that it is probably due to the 72 degrees of alcohol. I would say that it is a good product, authentic. This product offers a new alternative in the little market of the high-quality absinthe. I advise you to order Abisinthe 45 and 72."

"It is packaged in a tapered dark olive green bottle with a plastic screw cork. Pale yellow color appears to be natural.

Lighty scented with alcohol in the front and sweet anis – wormwood in the back. Adding water produces a thick yellow – white louche and really makes the aromas bloom. This absinthe seems to benefit when water is dripped very slowly.

This is a very clean tasting absinthe : it tastes like a distilled product as stated on the label, very clean and sharp instead of gritty or oily assembled one. Mostly green anise with a nice woodsy or flowery wormwood flavor to balance it out. This is a commercial product that comes the closest to the flavour of a good “Bleue” that I have tasted yet. Very nice indeed."

"Coeur d’Absinthe Double Distillation is an absinthe with character which mix the spicy taste of green anise and the bitterness of wormwood."

Coeur d’Absinthe Premium - Triple Distillation

"The new absinthe from the Lemercier Frères Distillery ! A strong attack of green anise soon swept by the wormwood which is very long in the mouth. This triple distillation has its aromatic delicacy and power increased compared to the double distillation version."

"The smell is perfumed. The fresh green anise "sparkles" on the tongue. The wormwood is there, round, long in mouth, the bitterness is moderate. A good product !"
